Creating a Unique Interior Design Experience

The Needle Workshop, designed by Martin Chow, is a stunning example of interior design innovation. Drawing inspiration from the needle, a common tool in the fashion industry, Chow has created a space that reflects the essence of fashion and design. The needle's color and shape have been cleverly incorporated into the bar counter design, display systems, and other elements of the workshop.

What sets the Needle Workshop apart is its ability to showcase the display clothes and accessories as the focal point of the interiors. Chow has used basic materials such as concrete wall finishes, stainless steel, and timber flooring to highlight these items. The result is a modern and elegant atmosphere that enhances the value of the property.

The project, which serves as a demonstration unit for the property, includes a display area, gallery, designer's workshop, manager room, meeting area, bar, and washroom. Despite the limited space and budget, Chow has successfully integrated all these elements into a cohesive and functional design.

The realization of the Needle Workshop involved the use of concrete finishes, timber flooring, stainless steel with a gold finish, and black metal mesh. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the space but also create a sense of luxury and sophistication.

Chow faced several challenges during the design process, including the limited dimensions of the space. With only 9 meters in depth, 4 meters in width, and 5 meters in height, it was crucial to maximize the use of the apartment. To overcome this, Chow proposed the addition of a mezzanine floor, which allowed for better interaction and communication among staff members.

The Needle Workshop, located in Chongqing, China, was completed in August 2017 after months of meticulous planning and execution. Throughout the project, Chow conducted extensive research to understand the local market and the preferences of potential customers. This collaboration with the client's marketing team ensured that the interior styles and layouts were tailored to meet their specific needs.

The exceptional design of the Needle Workshop has not gone unnoticed. In 2018, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
